Firefighters responded to a Center City block for the second time in as many days early Wednesday after a basement caught fire.

The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. in the basement of 2002 Ludlow Street, which is just off 20th Street.

The four-story building houses various businesses, include a technology company and a young Jewish professionals social group.

The building is located just around the corner from where an underground explosion happened along 20th Street Tuesday morning. The Tuesday blast blew out the storefront of a dry cleaners and sent smoke and dust through the street.

"We're lucky we are still alive," said Haviv David, owner of Mama's Vegetarian, a restaurant near the blast zone.

PECO continues to investigate the cause of the explosion. It remains unclear whether Wednesday's fire may be related to the blast.

High-Schooler Shot in Face During Delco Weed Deal, Cops Say

A high-school student is fighting for his life and another teen is in custody after a shooting during an apparent drug deal on a normally quiet Havertown street Tuesday night.

The 18-year-old Haverford High School student went to the intersection of Glen Gary Drive and Rose Tree Lane to buy an ounce of marijuana around 8:15 p.m., Haverford Township police said. A gunman then shot the teen at least once in the face.

The teen was hospitalized in critical condition.

At least three young people could be seen on surveillance video running away from the scene shortly after the shooting, police said.

Police zeroed in on a 17-year-old they believe was the gunman. The boy was arrested after police, waiting for a warrant, saw him leave his home, police said.

The search continues for the other people present during the shooting, police said.

Haverford Township Police Chief John Viola told NBC10 a shooting is unusual for the area.

“It doesn’t happen,” he said. “It’s very odd that it happened in the neighborhood. A very residential neighborhood.”

Haverford Township Police asked anyone with information to give them a call.

EXCLUSIVE: Jailed Cosby Says He's a Victim of 'Entrapment'

Convicted sex offender and former comedian Bill Cosby said his attempts to showcase equality on television led to his 3-to-10-year prison sentence and fall from grace as "America's Dad."

In his first message from prison, the 81-year-old told NBC10's Erin Coleman that he is a victim of "entrapment" carried out by a "low-life District Attorney" and "corrupt Judge."

Cosby shared his comments with his wife, Camille, after NBC10 aired a two-part interview Tuesday and Wednesday with Andrew Wyatt, his spokesman, about Cosby's life at Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution Phoenix in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. In that interivew, Wyatt shared how Cosby washed his meals before eating them and wakes up at 3:30 a.m. to do calisthenics in his cell.

Cosby was convicted in April 2018 of drugging Andrea Constand and sexually assaulting her inside his Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, home in 2004. The judgment came after years of public and private statements by dozens of women who claimed they were abused by the actor. More than 60 women accused Cosby of assaulting them over five decades.

Despite the conviction and sentencing of 3 to 10 years behind bars, Cosby said in his message he will "never have remorse" for the crimes.

"My political beliefs, my actions of trying to humanize all races, genders and religions landed me in this place surrounded by barb wire fencing, a room made of steel and iron," the message, passed along to NBC10 from Cosby through Wyatt, read in part.

Cosby has maintained that his encounter with Constand was consensual. He recently settled a civil lawsuit brought by Constand for nearly $3.4 million. He considers himself among "some of the Greatest Political Prisioners" including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.

"I stand upright as a Political Prisoner and I Smile. The Truth is Strong!"

Here's the message in full:

I heard about Ms. Coleman’s (NBC 10) interview from the residents here. Here’s why I, [Mr. Cosby] have “no” remorse and will never have remorse. I was given a deal; I settled out of court for $3.8 million dollars; I waived my 5th amendment rights; I was declared Not Guilty in 2005 by the Commonwealth - never charged. However, a low-life District Attorney and a corrupt Judge needed me Guilty now. Not for justice, but for their political aspirations. They say, Mr. Cosby you must attend these classes. Why? One word. Entrapment! My political beliefs, my actions of trying to humanize all races, genders and religions landed me in this place surrounded by barb wire fencing, a room made of steel and iron. So, I now have a temporary residence that resembles the quarters of some of the Greatest Political Prisoners - Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Randal Robinson, and Dr. Benjamin Chavis. I stand upright as a Political Prisoner and I Smile. The Truth is Strong!”

More Wintry Weather Could Hit This Holiday Weekend

The NBC10 First Alert Weather Team is tracking more wintry weather that could mess with your holiday weekend plans.

Here is what you need to know as we track the weather days out:

Temps Wednesday and Thursday should remain in the 40s under partly cloudy skies. High temps then rocket up to around 60 on Friday ahead of a front that could bring us rain.

That front brings in much colder air for Saturday and set us up for possible wintry weather.

There is a chance for a mix of rain and snow Saturday, moving in around midday. The system will ride to the south, so areas like New Jersey and Delaware have the best chance of seeing some wet weather. It should move out Saturday night but more wet weather threatens.

Another system late Sunday could bring more cold rain and snow. This system has the potential to impact more of the region, and possibly pack more of a punch.

Neither system looks very impressive and neither is expected to bring much snow, at this point, but that could change.

High temps Saturday and Sunday aren’t expected to get out of the upper 30s.

Once the second system moves out, a chilly and partly cloudy Presidents Day is expected with highs in the low to mid 30s. Another hit of wintry weather could then come on Tuesday.

Keep checking NBC10 on air and the NBC10 App (download it now) throughout the week for the up-to-date First Alert Weather forecast.

Church Names 63 New Jersey Clerics Accused of Sexual Abuse

The Archdiocese of Newark released a list Wednesday of 63 Roman Catholic clergy members that it said have been credibly accused of sexually abusing minors dating back to 1940.

Cardinal Joseph Tobin, the archbishop, said in a statement that he hoped the disclosure "will help bring healing to those whose lives have been so deeply violated."

New Jersey is one of more than two dozen states where dioceses have released the names of abusive clergy members since a Pennsylvania grand jury report in August identified over 300 predator priests.

In the wake of the Pennsylvania report, New Jersey's attorney general formed a task force last fall to conduct a criminal investigation into sexual abuse by clergy in the state.

Newark's list includes Theodore McCarrick, a former Newark archbishop who served as Washington, D.C., archbishop from 2000 to 2006. McCarrick was removed from public ministry in June.

All of the clergy members on the list are described as deceased or having been removed from ministry, and about half have been named in previous news reports. About half are believed to be responsible for multiple victims.

New Jersey's four other dioceses are expected to release names soon of clergy members suspected of abusing minors.

The number of named clerics on the Newark list is likely to grow larger, as the current list doesn't include those who are currently the focus of lawsuits. The archdiocese said those names would be added if accusations are found to be credible.

The Newark list doesn't include details about the allegations or when they are alleged to have happened. In a letter posted on the archdiocese's website, Tobin wrote that all the names on the list were previously reported to law enforcement but didn't say what steps were taken at the time.

Mother Charged With Murder Made Frantic 911 Calls

In frantic 911 calls, a New Jersey mother charged with killing her baby can be heard telling a dispatcher that she was assaulted and fell on top of the boy while on a walk.

Prosecutors say Nakira Griner, 24, at first told police the 23-month old child was abducted the night of Friday, Feb. 8. Hours later, authorities say they found Daniel Griner Jr.'s dismembered body in a purse under a shed in the yard of the woman's Bridgeton home.

In separate calls with 911, Griner weeps and screams as she tells the dispatcher on the other end of the line that someone beat her while walking to a Walgreens store.

In the series of calls, which total about 4 minutes long, Griner sounds distraught, often becoming unintelligible as she sobs. Early on, she tells the 911 operator that she's "hiding."

As the operator attempts to gather more information, he tries to calm the woman down.

"Listen, I'm really trying to understand you, but it's really difficult while you're crying," he says." "Try to take a deep breath, slow your breathing down and tell me what's going on so I can help you."

Later, she tells the operator that, "My head hurts and my side hurts." "Were you jumped?" he responds.

"He pushed me on the ground and kicked me," Griner wails as she describes the supposed assailant.

The operator then asks if the baby is injured. "I fell on top of him," she screams.

In the background, a child can be heard crying, though it is unclear if that child was Daniel.

By that point, Griner says she can see officers arriving at the scene.

"Is he unconscious?" the operator asks, to a response consisting of sobs. "And you fell on his head, ma'am?" the operator continues.

More sobs follow before the line cuts off.

Prosecutors say Griner went on to tell police her son had been abducted during the supposed attack, sparking a multiagency manhunt that included New Jersey Park Police bloodhounds.

Shortly before 3 a.m. the next morning, however, police found the boy's burned and dismembered body in the woman's yard.

That's when authorities say Griner admitted to hitting the boy so hard that she left bruises on his face because he wouldn't eat or listen to her. Prosecutors say the woman also told police that the boy fell down a set of stairs and that after hitting him, she put him in a stroller and left him alone instead of immediately calling for help.

In addition to 1st-degree murder, Griner faces 2nd-degree endangering the welfare of a child, 2nd-degree desecration of human remains and fourth degree tampering with evidence charges.

LOVE Park Sells Pieces of Philly History

Skaters, history lovers and devoted Philadelphians celebrated their Valentine’s Day together in a special way.

Ahead of Valentine's Day on Wedding Wednesday, fans of the old LOVE Park waited in line to get their hands on exclusive pieces of granite from the original park.

Wedding Wednesdays have been putting "love" in LOVE Park since September. The special days allow couples to get married in front of the LOVE sculpture on designated Wednesdays for just $50.

This Wednesday, Philadelphia's Parks and Recreation Department sold the granite keepsakes for $51 to the first 200 people waiting in line. Proceeds will go towards LOVE Park and Skate Philly.

The granite pieces were carved with the park's iconic name inside a heart. People could choose from red, black or white hearts.

The pieces serve as a memento of the beloved LOVE Park before it was renovated and reopened in the spring of 2018.

The park had previously been a hot spot for skateboarders. The sale of the granite pieces was a way for some skaters to remember the original landmark.

Melissa Sherman bought a piece of the granite for her boyfriend who used to skate at LOVE Park in the 90s and 2000s.

“He just loved the park and just the other night he was talking about the granite and I knew this would be the perfect gift for him,” she said.

While waiting in line, Sherman met Rachel Burgos, who was in a similar situation. Burgos had tried to purchase granite pieces previously at Christmas Village to no avail.

“My boyfriend used to skate here in the 90s. He became pretty upset when it became ‘no more skateboarding,’" Burgos said. "When they had the initial run of these [granite pieces] in Christmas Village, they were sold out."

Both Sherman and Burgos managed to purchase the limited granite pieces as Valentine’s Day gifts this year.

“We had to get this for them. We know they’re going to be thrilled,” Sherman said.

Along with the granite keepsakes, there were typewriters set up for people to write love letters or maybe even proposals.

Police are searching for a man accused of recording several underage girls with his cellphone inside a Target store in Voorhees, New Jersey.

Witnesses told police they spotted the unidentified man recording the girls inside the Target back on Feb. 7.

A woman, who did not want to be identified, told NBC10 she was with her two young daughters in the medicine aisle of the Target when a man rudely walked in front of her and the pharmacist. She didn’t realize at the time that the man may have been recording the girls. She later learned about the incident when she viewed surveillance video posted by police on Facebook.

“I feel violated," she said. “I feel like I failed my daughters. I feel anxiety going out now. I feel like someone will try to take pics or video of my daughters. Who knows what the guy is doing with those pictures?”

The woman said another shopper confronted the man and yelled at him. The man then fled the store.

Police released surveillance video of the man, who they are calling a person of interest. They described him as a man in his late 40s wearing a dark coat and tan pants.

If you have any information on the man’s identity, please call Detective Mike Perez at 856-627-5858. You can also email him at mperez@vtpd.com.
