Philadelphia police are looking for a man suspected of assaulting several women over a 10-day period.

Between Dec. 20 and Dec. 30, the man indecently assaulted one woman, tried to chase a second and then finally pushed a third one to the ground and covered her mouth as she tried to enter her home, Philadelphia Police Department spokeswoman Tanya Little said.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 years old and standing around 5 feet, 8 inches tall. Police say he wore dark clothing during all three incidents.

The first attack came around 1:40 a.m. Dec. 20, Little said. The man allegedly indecently assaulted a woman in the 700 South Street area.

Eight days later, around 5:09 a.m., the suspect started approaching a woman while riding a bike as she was trying to enter her home on the 1300 block of Morris Street, Little said. The woman was able to get inside before the man got to her.

Around 2:55 p.m. Dec. 30, the suspect, once again on a bike, rode up on a woman entering her home on the 200 block of Fitzwater Street. The man pushed the victim to the ground and covered her mouth before she was able to fight him off, Little said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the department's Special Victims unit at 215-685-3252.

A man died from his injuries after he was punched by another man during an argument at a South Philadelphia dog park Saturday night.

The 38-year-old victim and his fiancée were walking their dog at the Gold Star Park along the 600 block of Wharton Street around 9:15 p.m. While at the park, the victim began arguing with another man after telling him to put his dog on a leash, witnesses said.

The argument escalated and the unidentified man punched the 38-year-old man, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the ground. The suspect then fled the scene. Police responded to the dog park after receiving a report of a person screaming.

The victim was taken to Jefferson Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:51 p.m. Witnesses told NBC10 they don’t believe the attacker meant to kill the victim but that he still ran away after punching him. They also said several people tried to resuscitate the victim though they believe he died instantly.

Police described the suspect as an “unknown white male wearing dark clothing,” but have not released a more detailed description beyond that. They continue to investigate.

Eagles' Magical Run Continues With Dramatic Wild Card Win

$

OK, you can all exhale now.

The Eagles are off to New Orleans for a rematch against the Saints in the NFC conference semifinals after a heart-stopping 16-15 win over the Bears at Soldier Field.

It wasn’t over until former Eagle Cody Parkey missed a 43-yard field goal in the final seconds.

One kneeldown later and the miracle season was still alive.

WOW!

1. This was such a team win. That’s my biggest takeaway from Sunday. Everybody in uniform contributed in some way, and that’s what you need to win a road playoff game against a great team. It wasn’t just about Nick Foles and Fletcher Cox. There was forgotten Golden Tate with the game-winning touchdown. There was Tre Sullivan knocking down a pass. There was Cre’Von LeBlanc with a huge third-down tackle short of the sticks. And so on. An incredible team win, and Doug Pederson and his coaches deserve so much credit for having the the entire roster ready for a really tremendous challenge.

2. One of the most impressive things about Nick Foles is his ability to shrug off mistakes and play at a high level against really high-level teams. He was bad early, but you never see him hang his head or get frustrated or try to do too much and get it all back at once. He’s extremely strong mentally and we saw that in the second half, when he was 15-for-24 for 123 yards with no interceptions and two TD passes after a two-INT first half. The way he’s able to ignore immense pressure and the longest odds and the worst situations and rally his team time after time is something that’s reserved only for the greatest, and lately every time Foles plays he proves that he’s one of them.

4. Think about this stretch for Foles: He’s beaten the 13-3 Rams in L.A., he’s beaten the 11-5 Texans at home and now he’s beaten the 12-4 Bears in Chicago. This is incredible stuff, and any question whether last year was some sort of fluke needs to understand that Foles is magical. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and nothing he does surprises me.

5. And how about Golden Tate? I mean, the kid had been playing less and less, he hadn’t made an impact since he got here, and who catches the game-winning pass? What a story. I give Tate so much credit for staying engaged, staying ready and producing when his number was called on the biggest play of his life. Tate had another big 19-yard gain on a third down where he got clobbered and I don’t know how he held onto the ball. He finished 5-for-46 and it might have been the best 5-for-46 in history. Howie Roseman’s a genius.

6. Defensively, the Eagles were just tremendous deep in their own end and on third down. The Bears had drives down to the 18, 11 and 16 but had to settle for field goals all three times, and then the final drive to the 25 on the missed field goal. In a one-point game, those stops simply saved the game. The biggest stop came early in the fourth quarter after Allen Robinson’s 45-yard catch from Mitch Tribuisky gave the Bears a 1st-and-10 on the Eagles’ 21-yard-line. That could have been a real momentum changer after the Eagles had just taken the lead, but the Bears managed only five yards on their next three plays and settled for another field goal. That was huge.

7. It was surprising to see Avonte Maddox beaten on several big plays in the second half, but the Bears really did a good job taking advantage of his aggressiveness. All their big plays came against him, most of them with  Robinson on the receiving end. It doesn’t change my feelings about the fourth-round rookie from Pitt, who made a bunch of big plays earlier in the game. He’s going to be a flat-out stud. He’ll learn from this and get better.

8. The job the Eagles did defensively on Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen was truly impressive. The Bears wanted to get both those backs going, but Howard managed only 10-for-35 rushing and Cohen had one carry for no yards and 3-for-27 receiving. The Eagles were so good tackling both those guys, and they never really were a factor on offense.

9. How freaking big-time was Alshon Jeffery. He continues to show what a big-time postseason player he is. He had six tough catches for 82 yards against his former team, including that catch down to the 2-yard-line with a minute remaining to give the Eagles 1st-and-goal. In just four games, Jeffery is now seventh in Eagles history with 301 yards in the postseason.

10. I know the score last time was 48-7, and I don’t know if the Eagles are going to win Sunday in New Orleans, but I do know this is a different team than it was that day in mid-November. They are going to show up and they’re going to play the Saints tough next Sunday. It’s just a tremendous story the way this team has galvanized in the month and a half since that loss. That was a beaten team. An embarrassed team. And since then they’re 6-1 with the only blemish coming in Dallas in overtime, when they got robbed. Things came so easy for the Eagles last year, and that was an unforgettable year. This year, they’ve had to fight and scratch their way through so much adversity, and the season has a whole different feel to it. This was a 4-6 team and down 19-3 to the Giants on Nov. 25. Now look at them. What a remarkable story. What a remarkable team.

Police Nab Vermont Kidnapping Suspect in Philly Suburbs

A Vermont man who allegedly kidnapped a woman and her child in New Hampshire, drove them to Vermont, sexually assaulted the woman is in police custody in Pennsylvania after being arrested Sunday following a manhunt and a car chase.

Police say that Everett Simpson, 41, forced the two into their own car in the parking lot of The Mall Of New Hampshire in Manchester on Saturday.

From there, he allegedly brought them to a Comfort Inn just over the state border in White River Junction, Vermont. Simpson, who had recently left a substance abuse rehab facility in Vermont, then forced the woman to rent a room, where he sexually assaulted her, according to police.

Police say Simpson was a stranger to the woman and her child.

Less than 24 hours later, the car Simpson was driving was detected by an automatic license plate recognition system in Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania. Police said Simpson ditched that car and took another before he was finally captured by police and taken to a hospital.

"They got a report of another car theft, essentially a woman who had been carjacked," Vermont State Police Trooper Adam Silverman said in a press conference. "She was unloading groceries from her car and this guy jumps in her car as she's standing there with the grocery bags in her hands and drives off."

It is not yet known when Simpson will be extradited to Vermont to face charges or if he has an attorney.

As of 11:30 a.m. Monday, Simpson was still in the hospital, handcuffed to a gurney with two officers standing guard due to his status as an escape risk, according to Upper Darby police.

Meanwhile, Manchester residents say they're shaken by the news of the kidnapping, which police say took place in broad daylight.

"But daylight, you figure you'd be safe," Pauleen Durocher said. "It's so many crazy, crazy people around, it's ridiculous."

Woman's Shooting Leads Police to 2 Dead in Running Vehicle

A woman shot in the arm eventually led Philadelphia police to make a grisly discovery inside a running vehicle in the city’s Kensington neighborhood.

“We were looking for a crime scene but we found two additional victims who turned out to be dead,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

It all started just before 3 a.m. Monday when officers responded to a call on East Tioga Street about the woman shot in the arm, investigators said.

Detectives found the 32-year-old woman, who investigators are now calling a person of interest, shot once in the arm, Small said. When investigators asked her where she was shot she gave them conflicting stories.

The woman eventually told police to go to F and Ontario streets, which is a few blocks away, where officers found an Acura, the engine still on, parked in the middle of the street, Small said.

Inside the vehicle were two unresponsive shooting victims.

“They found a male in the back hatchback area, laying down, and they found a female in the driver’s seat,” Small said.

The woman in the driver’s seat was shot in the head while the man was shot in the torso, small said. Both people were pronounced dead at the scene and weren’t initially identified.

The deadly shots likely came from inside the car but the shooting remained under investigation, police said. Police also found drugs and a syringe inside the vehicle.

Neighbors in the area said they heard gunshots then saw someone take off from the area.

No word yet on a motive or suspects. Police hope surveillance video could help them track down the killer.

Trial Begins for Man Accused of Murdering Temple Student

$

Jury selection began Monday in the trial of a man accused of killing, then hiding the body of a Temple University student in 2017.

Suspect Josh Hupperterz turned down a plea offer in December from the Philadelphia District Attorney's office, which had offered 30-to-60 years in prison in exchange for a guilty plea. An attorney for Hupperterz has said his client claims he didn't harm Jenna Burleigh, who disappeared in late 2017 after leaving a bar in North Philadelphia.

Prosecutors claim Hupperterz and Burleigh met at the bar about a week into the fall semester. The two then allegedly went back to his apartment on North 16th Street near Temple's campus. Burleigh was never seen alive again.

Hupperterz allegedly stuffed her body into a blue plastic storage bin and moved it to his mother’s home in Jenkintown, authorities said in September that year. Sources told NBC10 at the time that the 29-year-old then used a Lyft ride-hailing car to transport the remains to his grandmother’s home in Wayne County, Pennsylvania.

Hupperterz's grandfather allegedly found Burleigh's body one day after a Philadelphia police detective and FBI agent visited the property.

Jury selection is expected to take most, if not all, of Monday, officials said.

Opening statements could begin Tuesday morning.

Hupperterz could face up to life in prison if convicted at trial. He is charged with murder, abusing a corpse, possessing an instrument of crime and tampering with evidence.

"He's saying he didn't cause any harm to the girl and that's what he indicated to me," Hupperterz's counsel, David S. Nenner, said last year. "What happened that night — I'm not [at liberty] to talk."

Initial accounts by investigators of Burleigh's death alleged a grisly murder and coverup that are eerily similar to circumstances surrounding Hupperterz's father's murder 24 years earlier.

The body of Octavio Hupperterz was found wrapped in a trash bag outside of a business in the Wyndmoor section of Springfield Township, Montgomery County, in 1993. Josh Hupperterz was 4 at the time.

Octavio died from a bullet to the back of the head, his hands tied behind his back and shoved into a garbage bag when he was found.

Sources had told NBC10 in 2017 that investigators believed the elder Hupperterz, who lived in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, was killed at another location and his body dumped in Montgomery County.

Bail Set at $1.75M for Hospitalized Suspect in Deadly Crash

$

A man accused of slamming head-on into an SUV in South Philadelphia, killing three people and injuring another, remains hospitalized in police custody, unable to post $1.75 million bail.

A judge arraigned Keith Campbell Monday on three counts of homicide by vehicle, one count of aggravated assault and related counts then set bail, the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office said. The hearing happened from Campbell's hospital room as he recovers from the crash and possibly self-inflicted stab wounds, authorities said.

Campbell, 29, is accused in the Jan. 2 Packer Avenue Crash that killed 36-year-old driver Joseph Ferry; his 35-year-old fiancée, Kelly Wiseley; and 31-year-old friend Dennis Palandro. Palandro's 30-year-old wife suffered serious injuries.

Both Ferry and Palandro were members of the South Philadelphia String Band. The group had just taken the second place prize in the annual Mummers Parade. The couples were heading to have a meal at the Oregon Diner at the time of the crash.

The Newport Police Department said Friday that its officers and Delaware state troopers pursued Campbell, who hails from Bear, Delaware, through New Castle County after observing his white Audi travel recklessly down two highways early Wednesday.

Police tried to pull over Campbell along Delaware Route 4 around 1:12 a.m., but he kept driving. His driving became more erratic as the luxury car traveled west and onto northbound Interstate 95, police said.

Authorities eventually called off the pursuit, in the area of the Christiana Mall, to prevent a crash.

Thirty-miles away in Philadelphia, at around 1:45 a.m., Campbell's car drifted into the opposite lane along Packer Avenue near South 7th Street and directly into an Acura SUV, police said.

Police said Campbell had 15 to 20 stab wounds in his chest and torso when the crash happened. Invesitgators believe the wounds were self-inflicted. A knife and note — described by police to have rambling statements — were found in the car. Toxicology results are also pending.

Campbell is charged with three counts of vehicular homicide, one count of aggravated assault, and related crimes. Bail was set since Campbell doesn't first a first-degree homicide charge, the DA's office said.

Campbell is expected to survive his injuries and eventually be released from the hospital, police said.

Careful! Wintry Mix on the Way After Midnight into Morning

$

A First Alert weather event has been issued for the Lehigh Valley, Berks County, and the Philadelphia suburbs of Upper Bucks, western Montgomery, and northern Chester counties from midnight to 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The First Alert is for a wintry mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet that will pass over these neighborhoods.

The good news is that the period of precipitation will be brief, and accumulation totals will be very low. A light coating is possible. This could leave behind some slippery roads, but not for long.

[[504013551, C]]

Temperatures will quickly rise Tuesday as a warm front approaches the area.

Ahead of this front, the air will be cold enough to support the wintry mix in the northern and western edges of the greater Philadelphia region.

The mix will begin just past midnight and last through around 5 a.m.

Southern portions of the Pennsylvania suburbs will primarily see rain showers as the moisture slides through. Areas along the Interstate 95 corridor,  southern Delaware and at the shore should expect rain showers as well.

Once the precipitation ends, the temperatures will quickly push into the 40s and low 50s. This will melt any icy conditions left behind.

If you’re an early morning commuter in the northern neighborhoods, you may want to leave extra time for slow driving, or just wait until after 7 a.m. for improved driving conditions.

Vandal Leaves Hateful Note for Woman With Disability

A local woman dealing with a disability says she received a hateful note and scratches on her vehicle after she parked in a handicapped spot.

Stacie Friend, 43, told NBC10 she parked at the Walmart in Tuyllytown, Pennsylvania, Thursday. She chose a handicapped spot and displayed her placard before going inside the store with her daughter.

When Friend came back out she noticed scratches on her car as well as a note with the message, “You are not disabled pig.”

“I kind of felt like, violated,” Friend said.

Friend told NBC10 that despite her appearance, she actually is disabled. She’s battling Parkinson’s Disease, underwent brain surgery and has a second brain surgery scheduled for next month.

Friend shared her story on social media. When she woke up the next morning to see the comments, she had an unpleasant surprise. More hateful comments.

“I genuinely wanted to try and read all the comments and thank people who are being supportive and stuff,” she said. “And I actually had to sit at the dining room table and I cried. Some people are so mean.”

Friend’s post was shared more than 6,000 times and she eventually started seeing more positive messages of encouragement. Some people even offered to take her to the Tullytown Walmart or meet her there.

“I just wanted to be able to thank all those people,” she said.

Tullytown Police are currently investigating to find out who left the note and the scratches.
