A Lincoln man has been charged with fatally hitting a pedestrian and then speeding off.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports that Lazaro Martinez turned himself in to police three days after the fatal hit-and-run in Harrington.

The 48-year-old suspect has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death and failure to report a collision that resulted in death. He was released on $3,100 bond. It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer.

Police say Martinez's vehicle struck Rickey Honeycutt on Dec. 14 as the 53-year-old man tried to cross U.S. 13. Another driver found the body of the pedestrian and notified authorities.

The newspaper says police used security footage to identify the hit-and-run vehicle as a Jeep. Martinez turned himself in on Friday.

Happy holidays, indeed! A gambler from Lakewood, New Jersey, turned a small bet into a huge payoff Saturday when he delivered a royal flush -- and the casino delivered his $1 million winnings.

The man is only being identified as "Harold M.," which seems smart. But we do know how the bet went down.

"Harold" was at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, playing Three Card Poker's "6 Card Bonus" bet. He bet $5. And he was dealt the 10, queen and ace of diamonds.

Nice. Even nicer: The dealer’s hand was the 9, jack and king of diamonds.

The result was a 6-card diamond Royal Flush.

According to a spokesman for the casino, experts at wizardofodds.com confirm that the odds of hitting the 6-card Bonus Royal Flush are 1 in 20,348,320.

A violent wreck tore a car apart and left two people dead along a busy Delaware County road early Monday.

The Christmas Eve crash just after 1 a.m. left the front of the car on one side of MacDade Boulevard, near Swarthmore Avenue in Folsom, Pennsylvania, and the cab of the car against a nearby utility pole.

Two people in the car died at the scene. Investigators believe they were the only two people in the car.

It was unclear what caused the driver to lose control of the car as the driver went east on MacDade.

Pieces of debris littered the road and nearby parking lots. The road was closed for hours before reopening before daybreak Monday.

The crash remains under investigation.

A father and son who were returning to New Jersey from a Disney vacation in Orlando are missing after their small plane crashed off the coast of Florida, officials and family said.

Peter Renzulli and his son Daniel, both of Bridgewater, were on a Piper Malibu plane that went down in the water off Jacksonville on Wednesday, their family said.

The Coast Guard called off its search on Saturday.

The plane took off from Orlando and disappeared from radar about 30 minutes later, the family said. The Coast Guard said the plane went down after making a distress call.

“The family was devastated to learn that the aircraft could not be located,” said Justin Marchetta, who represents the Renzulli family. “Peter and Daniel are accomplished pilots and their disappearance is heartbreaking.”

It wasn't clear whether the father or son was piloting the plane, although the family said that Peter had completed more than 30 hours of advanced training in that plane.

Peter was an accountant, CFO and adjunct professor at Rutgers University, according to his LinkedIn profile. He was a frequent commentator on CNN.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever offered on Christmas Day will be on tap for Tuesday night's drawing.

With no winners in Friday's drawing, the jackpot climbed to an estimated $321 million. The jackpot refers to the annuity option, in which payments are made over 29 years. Most winners opt for the cash option, which would be $193.7 million.

Lottery officials said since the game began in 2002, drawings have landed on Dec. 25 just four times, the last time being in 2015. And while a Christmas Day drawing has not yet produced a jackpot winner, seven Mega Millions jackpots have been won in the drawings held days before and after Christmas, including the third largest jackpot in the history of the game – $648 million – on December 17, 2013.

The chance of matching all six numbers and winning the top prize is 1 in 302.5 million.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The next drawing will be held Tuesday, Dec. 25, at 11 p.m. ET.

The last jackpot was won on Oct. 23, when a single ticket in South Carolina matched all six numbers. That winner has not yet come forward.

Authorities in New Jersey say an 18-year-old man has been arrested in a violent home invasion in which the homeowner was slashed and pistol-whipped.

Julian Mangal, 18, of Richland Town, Pennsylvania has been arrested in the Ridgefield Park robbery on Dec. 18, prosecutors said Monday. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

The homeowner, Frank Veritas, told News 4 New York he was startled awake in his Ridgefield Park home around 2:30 a.m. that Tuesday when he heard his wife screaming by his side.

"I woke up and see a man with a pistol, aiming it right at me," he said. The gunman, who Veritas recognized from a recent party at his home, was threatening to kill the 49-year-old Veritas.

The intruder was later identified as Mangal, who ran off with Veritas' wallet containing about $400 and a cellphone. Mangal was arrested at a South Hackensack motel. Another man who was apparently with him was arrested while trying to flee through a crawl space in one of the motel rooms, prosecutors said, and a third person was arrested for allegedly providing the gun to Mangal.

Veritas now has a staple in his skull and knife wounds to the chest.
