A woman and her teen daughter have both been charged after the girl struck and killed two men in a northeast Philadelphia parking lot while learning how to drive, police said.

Stephanie Hernandez, 32, was arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and other related offenses. Her 15-year-old daughter is also charged with homicide by vehicle, accident-death-no license and involuntary manslaughter.

Police say the teen was driving a 2008 black Ford Explorer back on June 4 around 8:45 p.m. in the parking lot of a shopping center at the intersection of Aramingo and Castor avenues. Hernandez was inside the vehicle with her, police said.

As the girl was driving, she lost control and the vehicle lunged forward, striking two men in their 50s who were standing in the parking lot and knocking them into a nearby store wall, according to investigators.

A 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while a 55-year-old man was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

A shipment of 108 phony replica Super Bowl rings representing many past champion teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles, was intercepted in Philadelphia, federal authorities said Tuesday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said the rings were found in an express consignment parcel that arrived June 18 from Hong Kong marked as alloy rings.

Trade enforcement officers noted "poor craftsmanship" and detained the rings to verify their authenticity with the National Football League, the trademark holder.

Customs officials say the NFL confirmed that the rings were phony. Officials say an authorized replica of a Super Bowl ring can cost $10,000, but counterfeit ones are offered on the internet for $25.

Pennsylvania motorists will once again be hit by a toll increase to bring in the New Year.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission approved a six percent toll increase on Tuesday which is set to begin on January 6, 2019.

The toll charge hike will apply to all Pennsylvania Turnpike sections and extensions. The Delaware River Bridge tolling point will be included in the annual increase for the first time since 2016.

"Parts of our tollway will soon turn 78 years old, and we owe it to toll-paying customers to continue to invest in our road to make it safer, smoother and wider," Pennsylvania Turnpike CEO Mark Compton said in a press release.

With the new changes, the average fare for E-ZPass owners will jump from $1.30 to $1.38.

For cash customers, the average fare will go from $2.10 to $2.25.

The latest toll increase is required to meet the Turnpike Commission’s funding obligations as well as maintain and improving the Turnpike system. The commission plans to release its 2019 trip calculator and toll schedule online later this month.

Huge Mall Facade Collapses in NJ, Trapping Workers

The entire facade of a mall collapsed in New Jersey Tuesday morning, trapping workers and customers in stores as the building crumbled.

The front of the River Edge mall building at 474 Kinderkamack Road came down just before 10 a.m., police said.

No injuries were reported, but cars were crushed under the facade and one worker told News 4 she was trapped in her store.

"I heard pebbles falling...then I heard a really big rock fall, and when I went to the window to check on it the whole thing came down," National Artifacts employee Courtney Lichtenberger said.

"I couldn't get out, and I was worried my roof was going to come down," she said. She called 911 and first responders moved bricks to get her out of her shop.

Beverley Antoci from Hair We Are hair salon described hearing a loud crash, before looking out to see the awning of the whole building was down.

Chopper 4 was over the scene where first responders were seen accessing the collapsed facade from the ladder of a fire truck. Multiple cars were seen under the awning.

There was no word on what caused the collapse.

Will Smith Using West Philly Mural to Raise Money for School

“West Philadelphia born and raised” Will Smith is using his city mural to raise money for students.

The actor, rapper and Philly icon is painted sitting on a chair in a suit and Air Jordans in the new mural at 4545 W. Girard Avenue.

"The idea that there would be a mural of me on the side of a school in West Philadelphia just wrecked me," Smith said on his YouTube channel.

[[487250441, C]]

The mural actually sits on the wall of a furniture store across a parking lot from the Global Leadership Academy Charter School. But the proximity to the school inspired Smith to sell shirts, hoodies, mugs, totes, cellphone covers and more with the painting on them with 100 percent of proceeds going to the charter school.

British artist Richard Wilson painted the 65-foot tall mural of "The Fresh Prince" after finding the large wall on Google Street View. He said Kehinde Wiley's portrait of a seated President Barack Obama inspired him.

[[487251841, C]]

Smith has yet to see the mural in person but his mother Carolyn was overjoyed to see her son on the side of a building in his native neighborhood.
