A sinkhole opened up near the King of Prussia Mall Tuesday morning.

Police alerted Aqua Pennsylvania of the break along Shaffer road, near Dekalb Pike (across the street from the popular mall), around 8:45 a.m., Aqua said.

SkyForce10 captured the large hole, which swallowed up part of the roadway, a stop sign, sidewalk and grassy area at the entrance of a parking lot.

A 2-inch service line had broken apart from a 12-inch main, causing water to flood the hole, Aqua said.

The break impacted mostly homes along Shaffer Road, Aqua said.

Crews would need to pump out the water before repairs could be made to the water line, according to Aqua.

A driver snatched a woman off a Montgomery County street then sexually assaulted her in a secluded area a couple miles away.

The woman alerted West Norriton Township police of the assault around 12:50 a.m. Monday after making her way to the Walmart store along Trooper Road, Lower Providence Township police said.

West Norriton police called in Lower Providence investigators since the woman said she was out for a walk along Lantern Lane in Audubon around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night when a man in a silver sedan with tinted windows, possibly a Nissan, jumped out of his car, forced her inside then drove off, police said.

The man drove about 2 miles to a secluded area along General Armistead Avenue in West Norriton where he sexually assaulted the woman, investigators said.

The attack left the woman hospitalized, police said.

Police describe the suspect as possibly having a Caribbean accent, standing around 6 feet tall and thinly built. He has black tapered high top hair that is curly on top.

Investigators released surveillance images that could be of the suspect’s car.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lower Providence Detective Scott Dreibelbis at 610-635-3558 or sdreibelbis@lowerprovidence.org

The NBC10 First Alert Weather Team issued a First Alert for the threat of passing severe storms Tuesday afternoon into evening for Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania suburbs, Berks County and the Lehigh Valley.

The Lehigh Valley and Berks County are under the highest threat of severe storms.

The storms – packing potentially heavy pockets of rain and damaging winds – are expected to move from west to east from 3 to 8 p.m., meteorologist Krystal Klei said. Some rain and isolated storms may continue into the overnight.

Temperatures Tuesday will warm to the mid and upper 80s, warmer than average for this time of year. It will be windy Tuesday as well, and by late Tuesday afternoon showers and thunderstorms will enter the northern and western edges of the region.

The storms may become strong to severe over parts of the Lehigh Valley and Berks County, and then spread to Philadelphia by 6 to 8 p.m. The storms may be weaker, but will progress across the rest of the region through the night. An isolated thunderstorm will still be possible across New Jersey and Delaware.

Wednesday showers and spotty thunderstorms will continue across the region with much cooler highs in the mid-70s.

Police Want to Talk to Temple Murder Suspect's Roommate

Philadelphia detectives hope the roommate of a man charged with killing a Temple University student in a North Philadelphia apartment has information that can help their investigation.

"We have the one suspect in custody we are looking to see if anyone else is involved," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said Tuesday morning.

Ross said its not clear whether the roommate, who has not been identified, played a role in the homicide, but that detectives can't rule out anything until they speak with him.

Josh Hupperterz, a 29-year-old former Temple student, is charged with murder in the Aug. 31 death of Temple junior Jenna Burleigh.

Burleigh, from Harleysville, Pennsylvania, was last seen leaving Pub Webb, a popular bar adjacent to Temple's North Philadelphia campus, with Hupperterz around 2 a.m. Thursday, police said.

She was later killed in his apartment along the 1700 block of N. 16th Street, which is about two blocks from the bar, officials said.

When Burleigh did not return home later that day, concerned friends and relatives reached out to Temple officials.

Law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation told NBC10 that hours before, around 4 a.m. Thursday, Temple police responded to a 911 call of a woman screaming along the same block where Hupperterz's apartment is located. When officer's arrived, they didn't find anyone in distress.

On Friday, Temple police officers returned to the block and entered Hupperterz’s apartment with a landlord. Inside, they found blood stains on the kitchen floor and on a wall near stairs, sources said.

University police talked by phone with Hupperterz, a former Temple student with a criminal background, that same day, officials said.

Hupperterz told a detective he was so drunk when he left the bar that he didn't remember who he was with, police said.

Police said they were not satisfied with that answer.

Philadelphia detectives obtained a search warrant Friday for the suspect's apartment. Around the same time, state police went to the home of Hupperterz's grandmother in a small Wayne County borough in northern Pennsylvania and took him into custody.

Burleigh's body was discovered Saturday inside a shed on the Paupack Township property, about 150 miles away from Philadelphia. She had been stuffed inside a plastic storage bin, police said.

The motive for the killing remains unclear.

Hupperterz was charged Sunday morning with murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with and fabricating evidence and other related offenses. The 29-year-old was also arraigned on separate drug charges, according to court records.

He admitted to some aspects of the story, police said.

Hupperterz is being held at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Philadelphia without bail. He does not have an attorney. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 20, according to court records.

Additional grisly details of Burleigh's final hours emerged over the weekend.

Burleigh's body moved from Hupperterz's North Philadelphia apartment to the Jenkintown home of his mother. Sources told NBC10 it remained there overnight.

Then, using the ride-hailing service Lyft, Hupperterz transported Burleigh's remains to his grandmother's property, investigators said. It's unclear whether the Lyft was an unwitting participant in the body transport.

Police do not think Burleigh, who had recently transferred to Temple from Montgomery County Community College, and Hupperterz knew each other prior to their encounter at Pub Webb.

One Temple student who took a class with Hupperterz said the former student had a history of lying about his background.

"He tried claiming he was on the football team," Temple senior Ahmad Goode said. "It's just a red flag. You don't know what people are capable of, honestly."

Hupperterz's neighbor, also a Temple student, said she bumped into him in their apartment building just hours after Burleigh's death.

"It's scary to think I talked to him after everything just happened," Danielle Carabello said. "He just seemed off when I spoke with him. He was very short."

In 2013, the former Temple student was charged with burglary and other offenses after allegedly breaking into a Scranton-area home and stealing electronics, laundry detergent and a keg of beer, court documents showed.

Temple is offering on-campus counseling 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at Tuttleman Counseling Services. Students can also call 215-204-7276.

Winslow Twp. Police Use Homeowners' Cameras to Fight Crime

Winslow Township Police are using surveillance cameras from voluntary homeowners and businesses in the Camden County town to help them catch criminals.

The Winslow Township Police Department recently launched the Winslow Electronic Eye Program, or W.E.E. Program, a voluntary registry of business’ and homeowners’ surveillance camera systems. The program maps out the locations of the cameras so that officers can find possible evidence faster after a crime is committed.

Police say the program directory is confidential and only accessible to law enforcement. They also say it does not allow officers to tap into private cameras and only indicates where the cameras are located.

“Many business owners and residents currently operate surveillance systems at their businesses and/or homes,” a Winslow Township Police spokesperson wrote.

“As crimes occur nearby, they are not always aware that their system may have captured information that could help solve the crime, thus keeping our community safer. In turn, the police are also not always aware who may have this potentially vital information. The Police Department is requesting residents and businesses across town to register their privately owned surveillance camera systems.”

Police say they're able to directly email residents in an area where a crime occurred by using the geographic locations of the cameras registered in the W.E.E. Program. The emails may ask the homeowner or business owner to check their video surveillance system for a specific date and time capturing the suspect or getaway vehicle involved in the crime. The citizen can then contact police if their video captures any evidence.

Police also say business owners who register with their security cameras receive a window sticker showing that they’re participating in the program.

If you’re a Winslow Township homeowner or business owner interested in participating in the W.E.E. Program, click here to fill out the application. If you complete the form online, save it to your computer and email it to aortiz@winslowpd.com. You can also pick up applications at the Winslow Township Police department.

Move over Mary Lee. There’s a new shark making the rounds in the waters off the Jersey Shore.

Finn, a young, 4-foot-11-inch long Great White shark weighing 79.2 pounds, surfaced off the coast of Belmar and Asbury Park at 8:34 a.m. Tuesday, according to the nonprofit shark-tracking group OCEARCH.

Finn was first tagged on August 12 in Mountauk, New York.

According to OCEARCH, when a shark’s dorsal fin breaks through the water, it sends a signal to a satellite. This is what their term 'ping' means, and this is how OCEARCH knows the sharks are at the surface of the waters near us.

Over the summer, several sharks have ‘pinged’ near New Jersey including JD, Cisco, Mary Lee and Hilton.

You can track Finn’s movements here.

A young girl is recovering after she was grazed by a bullet during a shooting in Wilmington, Delaware on Labor Day.

Police responded to a home on the 1900 block of W. 5th Street Monday shortly after 5 p.m. for a report of shots fired. When they arrived they found a 5-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot graze wound to her lower right leg area.

The girl was taken to St. Francis Hospital in good condition.

Luigi Vitrone, the Little Italy Association President in Wilmington and owner of a restaurant near where the shooting took place told NBC10 he heard six to seven gunshots during the ordeal.
