Trump Son Met with Russian Who Promised Info: Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the president, acknowledged Sunday that he met with a woman who turned out to be a Kremlin-connected lawyer during the 2016 presidential election — after being told she allegedly had information that could help his father's presidential campaign. The New York Times first reported on Saturday that Donald Trump Jr. met with the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, prompting him to respond with a short statement confirming that the meeting occurred. He said he attended "a short introductory meeting" with Veselnitskaya, where the topic of conversation was primarily about adoption. He added that the topic was not a campaign issue at the time and that there was no followup conversation. Then on Sunday, The Times reported that Donald Trump Jr. attended the meeting after having been told that the person there had information that would be damaging to Hillary Clinton's campaign. The Times article, which was based on conversations with three anonymous White House advisers, said news of the meeting represented the first public indication that members of the 2016 Trump campaign were willing to accept Russian help. Donald Trump Jr. then released a more detailed statement after the report Sunday.

According to the Department of Environmental Protection, anyone who experienced an interruption of their camping overnight stay at one of the parks will receive a refund beginning Monday. It will take a few weeks to process credit card reservations.

If the reservations were done via cash or check, it is encouraged to reach out to the appropriate park office.

State parks were shut down along with other nonessential state services, including state courts and the motor vehicle offices where people go to get driver's licenses. Tens of thousands of state workers were furloughed until Christie signed off on a state budget.

Uber Driver Rescues Stranded Couple Looking to Elope

      0
      0

Getting people to their destinations in a hurry is nothing new for David Scullion. He can now add getting a couple married on time to that list.

The 39 year-old Uber driver from Bear, Delaware had only been driving with the rideshare company for a month when he got a pickup request from someone on Interstate 95 near the Delaware Bridge.

When he arrived just before noon Friday, he found a Philadelphia couple- who asked to remain anonymous due to family concerns- stranded on the side of the highway, a tire on their Prius completely shredded.

As the ride began, Scullion discovered the couple was headed to a Maryland courthouse to elope, and made a quick decision.

“Something came over me, for a minute I kept debating in my head, and I couldn’t continue to charge them,” Scullion told NBC10 on Monday.

He quickly offered to drop the fare — which would have been over $200 round-trip — in exchange for serving as the couple’s witness during the ceremony. The trio made it to the court clerk in Cecil County, Maryland, just in time for their 12:30 p.m. appointment.

Scullion even returned the couple to their abandoned car after the wedding and helped jump the engine and change the tire to get the newlyweds back on the road.

"I could tell they weren’t loaded or anything like that," he said. "They were pretty panicked at the time."

Overall, it was a four hour detour for Scullion, but he’s no stranger to serving as the Good Samaritan.

“This is typical of me. I’ve housed over a handful people who didn’t have a place to live. If I see someone broken down, I’ll stop,” he said.

He says those good deeds are inspired from what he has overcome in his life. Scullion has battled prostate cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and fibromyalgia. He’s broken 28 bones and received over 160 stitches from various injuries.

Despite the challenges, he is the caretaker for his 85-year-old grandfather who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, and also cared for his grandmother, who recently passed away.

The father-of-three’s mantra —"Don’t give up" — echoes true in much of his life.

"I gave them a break I would want to get myself."

DA: Foul Play Likely Involved in Disappearance of 4 in Bucks

      0
      0

A criminal investigation has been launched in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, after four young men went missing in recent days.

Matthew Weintraub, the Bucks County District Attorney, on Monday called the search an "all hands on deck" situation as local and state police and the FBI look at "all possible leads." He also said that based on information that he "can't share," foul play was likely involved in the disappearance of the young men.

"It sure would seem so," he said during an afternoon press briefing. "It sure would seem so. We've been treating this from the outset as a criminal investigation, and nothing has deterred that to this point."

Authorities are looking for Mark Sturgis, 22, of Pennsburg, Montgomery County; 21-year-old Tom Meo, of Plumstead Township; 19-year-old Dean Finocchiario, of Middletown Township; and 19-year-old Jimi Tar Patrick, of Newtown Township.

There have been reports that all four men know each other. Police are trying to confirm whether that is true, Weintraub said.

Patrick went missing on Wednesday, July 5. He has not contacted family or friends or shown up for work, police said.

Finocchiario was last seen Friday around 6:30 p.m. getting into a vehicle on Hampton Drive. He has been missing since then.

Sturgis was last seen leaving his home on Walt Road in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, around 6 p.m. Friday to visit his friend, Meo, in Doylestown, Sturgis' father told NBC10. Both men have been missing since then.

"This is going to be a collaborative investigation that will continue until we solve this missing persons incident," Weintraub said.

Police closed roads near Route 202 in Solebury Township Sunday as part of their investigation. Those roads were later reopened, and emergency vehicles returned to a multi-acre property near Aquetong Road Monday.

Sturgis and Meo are longtime friends who work in construction for Sturgis' father, Mark Potash. Finocchiaro is a mutual friend of theirs, Potash told The Associated Press.

Weintraub provided few updates on the investigation during another press conference Monday afternoon, revealing only that he believes foul play was involved and that police are focusing their efforts on the multi-acre property near Aquetong Road.

"We've dedicated a ton of investigative resources there," Weintraub said. "We're not exactly sure what we're going to find there but we're pretty confident that the investigation is proceeding in the direction that we believe that it would. And we don't know as of yet what exactly will be revealed."

Weintraub said the next press briefing will likely occur at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Patrick stands 5-foot-10-inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing gray shorts and a polo shirt with a multi-colored design.

Finocchiario has brown hair and hazel eyes, standing 5-foot-9-inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.

Sturgis stands 6-foot-1-inch tall and weighs 240 pounds with black hair and a black beard. Meo stands 5-foot-5-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. His 2004 Nissan Altima turned up at Peddler's Village Saturday, his father told NBC10.

Weintraub said he couldn't expand on any possible theories surrounding the disappearances, but asked anyone with information to call 215-297-8201 or submit a tip online.
