Battleground Bros.: Young Voters Rate Trump's First 100 Days

President Donald Trump marks his 100th day in office on Saturday. His short time as the 45th president of the United States has not been an easy one.

Trump's approval rating has sunk to 40 percent, an all-time low this early in the presidency over the history of the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. His executive orders and proposals have sparked massive protests and lawsuits. Investigations into Russian interference in the general election continue to cloud his ascension to the Oval Office.

With so much controversy surrounding the presidency and huge divisions within the country continuing, we decided to return to Temple University, one of the four schools we visited during our presidential election college tour.

The goal: Hear how Millennials feel about Trump's first 100 days. There was no shortage of strong opinions. And since so much attention has been paid to his cabinet and staff, we figured a little game was in order.

See how our interviewees — young voters who spanned the political spectrum in ideologies — fared in the video above. Then, take the quiz for yourself below.

And be sure to share your thoughts about the first 100 days of Trump.

A South Jersey man is accused of possessing child pornography and also growing marijuana inside his home.

James Hightower, 48, of Palmyra was arrested and charged with operating a controlled dangerous substance production facility, manufacturing, distributing or dispensing a controlled dangerous substance and endangering the welfare of children.

Officials say the investigation began in January when the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Hightower’s online activities. An investigation revealed that Hightower uploaded images of pre-pubescent girls involved in sexual acts with adult males, officials said.

Investigators with the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, FBI and Palmyra Police Department served a search warrant at Hightower’s home on the 6200 block of Riverfront Drive in Palmyra Saturday morning. Police forced their way inside his home after he allegedly refused to open his door. Once inside they found 26 marijuana plants, which they seized, in his living room and garage, according to officials. Hightower was allegedly growing the plants inside his home. Officials also seized computers, cell phones and other digital media.

Hightower, who is retired from the United States Navy, was placed in the Burlington County Jail pending an appearance in Superior Court.

The NFL Draft proved to be a record-breaking success for Philadelphia. The NFL announced Saturday that 250,000 people attended this year’s draft on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, breaking an NFL draft-attendance record.

The NFL Draft “Experience” stretched several blocks along the Parkway. Numerous attractions were available for families and football enthusiasts. Highlights from the event included massive LED boards in front of the Philadelphia Art Museum, six bars, and dozens of memorabilia exhibits.

The hometown Eagles added eight players during the draft and are adding more via undrafted free agents. The Eagles addressed defensive needs and added a few offensive weapons for quarterback Carson Wentz. They drafted a defensive end - Derek Barnett - in the first round Thursday.

On Friday, they added two cornerbacks and on Saturday, they drafted two wide receivers, a running back, a safety-turned-linebacker and a defensive tackle.

You can view the complete tracker of undrafted free agents the Birds signed after the draft HERE.

Paws Up: Cat Takes Over Philadelphia Police Car

Cats have no shame when it comes to taking over spaces.

That cozy sweater you’ve owned forever makes a perfect nap bed. The more shedding the better. And your favorite spot on the couch? That’s just cat code for a human seat heater.

Philadelphia felines are no different. They do what they want, when they want.

One particularly intrepid orange cat recently took up residence atop a marked police car. The kicker? It was a K-9 unit:

The Philadelphia Police Department said on Facebook it does not employ cats because they are too easily distracted by jingling handcuffs and laser lights.

'Keep Dr. Ruff' Petition Asks STEM to Keep Embattled Dean

0
0

The controversy surrounding an educator put on administrative leave for yelling at anti-abortion protesters outside Downingtown STEM Academy is anything but over.

A group of supporters created an online petition to keep Dean of Academics and Student Life Dr. Zach Ruffs on staff despite the kerfuffle.

Ruffs was caught on video last week screaming at two teenagers carrying graphic signs and preaching about the “holocaust of abortion.”

The video was taken at the end of the school day while students and parents funneled through a busy intersection bordering three schools.

Ruffs can be seen telling the protesters to “shut up” and “go home.” He was put on administrative leave pending a formal investigation by the Downingtown Area School District.

Students, parents and community members have since come out in support of Ruffs, who they said was shielding them from disturbing images of aborted fetuses.

The dean, an educator in the school district for 10 years, is loved by many people within the community.

The group behind the petition released the following statement:

“As Downingtown STEM Students we do not condone the language used by Dr. Ruff directed at the pro-life protesters last Friday, however we would like to say the actions taken by Dr. Ruff were both morally and legally justified, and as such, he should continue his critical role at the STEM Academy as the Dean of Academics and Student Life. We would also like to inform Dr. Ruff that the vast majority of STEM students are standing with him, including 2800 and rising students, parents, graduates, and other members of the community who signed a petition to see Dr. Ruff continue his current role at the STEM Academy a Academy which only has 787 current students. When this incident broke out we were terrified that we were going to lose a great mentor, leader and the backbone of our Academy. The reason that we created this petition is to show overwhelming support we have for Dr. Ruff and to voice our desire to keep him as our Dean of Academics and Student Life, seeing that he was attempting to protect his students.”

STEM is a prestigious school that specializes in science, technology, engineering and math.
