NRA Employee Accidentally Shoots Himself at HQ: Police

A National Rifle Association employee accidentally shot himself while doing firearms training at the organization's headquarters, according to police.

The 46-year-old man's pistol accidentally discharged Thursday afternoon as he holstered the gun in Fairfax County, Virginia, police said.

The accidental shooting happened at the NRA's National Firearms Museum at 11250 Waples Mill Road in Fairfax.

The employee suffered a minor wound to his lower body and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Officers worked with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office and no charges are expected, according to police.

News4 has reached out to the NRA for comment, but has not received an immediate response.

Route 30 in Camden Reopens After Brush Fire

Westbound lanes along Route 30 in Camden have reopened after a brush fire broke out underneath a bridge.

Fire crews responded to the fire on Admiral Wilson Boulevard underneath the Flanders Avenue Bridge around 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning. 

The cause of the fire is unknown, but appears to be accidental, according to County Spokesman Dan Keashen.

One victim was taken to Temple University Hospital for burns. No other injuries were reported.  

Investigators from the fire department and NJ State Department of Transportation are inspecting the bridge's stability. 

The eastbound section of the boulevard will stay closed until the New Jersey DOT finishes structural inspections of the roadway and overpass.

Vandal Slashes Tires, Carves Swastika on Cars

An investigation is underway after a vandal carved a swastika on one vehicle and damaged three others in Warminster, Pennsylvania. 

On Saturday police responded to reports of criminal mischief on the 600 block of E. Street Road, the 600 block of Parmentier Road and the 500 block of Cavalcade Lane. Police say one vehicle on Parmentier Road had a slashed front passenger tire and broken passenger side mirror.

Three vehicles on E. Street Road were vandalized as well. One vehicle had a broken tail light and driver side mirror, another had a broken driver side mirror and a third had a slashed rear driver side tire and a swastika carved into the paint above the tire.

Police also say two mailboxes were damaged on Cavalcade Lane.

No arrests have been made and police continue to investigate. If you have any information on the vandalism, please call the Warminster Police Department at 215-672-1000.

Police Arrest Suspect in Queen Village Arson Fires

Police arrested a man accused of setting several arson fires in the Queen Village section of Philadelphia earlier this year.

On January 17 at 5:45 a.m. a fire occurred on the 800 block of Ranstead Street that damaged an overhead façade. On January 27 around 4 a.m. a fire damaged a parked vehicle on the 700 block of S. 5th Street. Finally on February 12 around 4:25 a.m. a fire damaged a brick wall in the back of the property at the Famous 4th Street Deli on the 700 block of S. 4th Street. Investigators say all three fires were arsons.

After an investigation, police identified the suspect in the arson fires at Juan Barkley, 59. Barkley was arrested Saturday around 10:05 a.m. inside his home on the 1200 block of Ludlow Street. He is charged with arson, causing or risking a catastrophe, failure to prevent a catastrophe, criminal mischief and possessing an instrument of crime.

Driver Loses Control, Runs into SEPTA Train Station

No serious injuries have been reported after a driver lost control, ran into a SEPTA train station and landed on the tracks. 

According to a SEPTA spokesperson, just before 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning, a driver lost control of their car and drove down an embankment at the Fern Rock Station. The car stopped after getting stuck on train tracks.  

Police are investigating what may have caused the accident. 

The car is still stuck on the tracks, but is only causing minor delays for regional rail riders. SEPTA is allowing trains to operate and pass by on an adjacent track slowly. Broad Street Line Subway riders are not affected. 

Man Shot in the Face in North Philadelphia

A man in his 20's was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the face early Sunday morning. His condition is unknown. Police are still searching for a suspect and evidence as to what may have caused the shooting.

Gunman Shoots, Kills Man in Vineland

A man was shot and killed in Vineland, New Jersey Sunday afternoon.

Police say the unidentified man was walking on East Chestnut Avenue between South Myrtle and South State streets around 1:30 p.m. when a gunman opened fire. The victim was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the incident may have been a drive-by shooting though they have not yet confirmed. They also have not yet released a description of the suspect. They continue to investigate.

Crews Rescue Several People Inside Burning Delco Apartment

A fire inside a Delaware County apartment building led to several rescues and sent one police officer to the hospital.

According to police, several people were rescued after a second alarm fire broke out inside the Waylin Manor Apartments, located at 2020 Garrett Road in Lansdowne, just after 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. 

Police say the fire started on the first floor of the building, which led to those on upper floors with difficulty getting out.

One Upper Darby Police Officer suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to the hospital. The fire has been placed under control.
