Police arrested a 71-year-old woman accused of stabbing another driver during a road rage incident last year.

Mary Craig was arrested at her Philadelphia home Friday and charged with assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and reckless endangerment.

The initial incident occurred on the 10000 block of South DuPont Highway on November 20, according to investigators. Police say Craig stopped her vehicle at a traffic light on South DuPont Highway southbound and Evans Road. Craig and her female passenger then got into a verbal altercation with another female driver and her passenger, a 36-year-old woman, who were stopped at the light, police said.

Police say Craig and her passenger exchanged profanities and obscene hand gestures with the other driver and her family at the red light. Craig’s passenger then allegedly got out of the vehicle and approached the 36-year-old victim who began to exit her vehicle as well. Craig’s passenger then began to attack the 36-year-old, police said. As the two fought, Craig got out of her car as well and began to stab the victim in the upper torso, according to investigators.

Craig, her passenger and the victim then went back into their own vehicles and drove away from the scene. Police say the victim realized she had been stabbed as she continued driving. The victim’s daughter pulled into a home on South DuPont Highway and called 911. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries.

Craig was arraigned and released on $46,000 unsecured bond. Police have not yet revealed whether Craig’s passenger has also been arrested or identified.

9-Year-Old Starts Charity, Spreads Message Across Country

Khloe Thompson will turn 10 at the end of March, but she’s not your average nine-year-old.

When she was eight, Khloe and her mom, Alisha, started “Khloe Kares,” a charity organization in California that was entirely Khloe’s idea.

“We would pass homeless people on the way to school and she always asked questions about them,” Alisha Thompson said. “She’d ask how they got there, why they got there. And that just sparked a conversation.”

From there, Khloe knew she wanted to help them. With the help of her grandmother, Khloe made knitted bags that she could stuff full of necessities for the homeless.

“It’s a long list of things,” Thompson said, laughing. “Lotion, conditioner, a lot things.”

On Friday, Khloe and her mom traveled to Philadelphia after Khloe was invited to speak at a conference hosted by Rutgers University. Khloe, the youngest speaker at the event, led breakout sessions where she talked about aiding the homeless and taught the group how to make her famous bags.

Before the conference, Khloe and her mom met up with Lolly Galvin, the founder of The Dignity Project. Together, the three of them handed out care bags to homeless men and women in Philadelphia.

“She’s amazing,” Thompson said of her daughter. “She’s a really cool kid. I support her in what she does.”

As for Khloe, she doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

“It makes me feel happy,” she said. “I’m just happy that I’m doing it.”

In April, Khloe and her mom will head to Ghana to take part in the Africa Bridge Connection. In preparation, Khloe raised enough money to install a water pump and hand out shoes to the needy.

“I plan on doing it for a while because it’s just something I like to do,” Khloe said.

WHAT YOU MISSED YESTERDAY

Nurses Begin 2-Day Strike at Delaware County Memorial Hospital: Nurses at a suburban Philadelphia hospital have begun a two-day walkout over staffing levels and other issues. The Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals said the strike Sunday and Monday by 370 nurses and technical staff at Delaware County Memorial Hospital will be followed by a three-day lockout. Hospital officials say that's because staffing agencies require five days of pay to get temporary replacements. The union says the hospital has increased the number of patients per nurse and there are shortages of basic equipment. "We are concerned about the safety of the patients in our hospital," said Angela Neopolitano, the DCMH Chapter President and 36-year registered nurse at the hospital. "Instead of spending money on nurses and techs from staffing agencies which are not known for attracting the best and brightest, Prospect should be investing in patient care."

AROUND THE WORLD

Trump Expected to Sign New Immigration Order: Two senior White House officials told NBC News that President Donald Trump plans to sign a revised version of his executive order that restricted travel from seven Muslim-majority nations on Monday. Since a federal judge in Seattle issued a temporary restraining order on it in early February, different White House officials and the president have stated numerous times that the new executive order would be signed soon. But more than a month after it was barred, the revised version has not been realized. The delay would seem to undercut the White House's original argument for its swift execution, which created  confusing travel situations and immigration statuses for hundreds of people the weekend it was implemented. When its necessity and legality was challenged, the president and senior administration officials emphasized the need for travel restrictions because they believed the nation would be at risk without them.

Vigil for Teen Girl Struck, Killed by State Trooper

Mourners gathered to remember a high school freshman and Girl Scout who was hit and killed by a vehicle driven by an off-duty New Jersey State Police Trooper over the weekend.

Dozens of the teen’s fellow classmates and friends remembered Theresa Di Falco, 13, at a vigil in Westfield on Sunday night.

Westfield High School Principal Derrick Nelson sent out a letter to all parents earlier on Sunday saying that Di Falco had passed away. He said grief counselors would be available at the school Monday.

Hugs, tears, candles and song filled the lawn outside the high school as hundreds of people came to honor Di Falco, who police said died the night before

Jakob Gibbemeyer, a student, was at the vigil. He said he had known Di Falco since first grade and found out Sunday morning when he woke up and checked Snapchat.

“I wasn’t sad at first because I was confused, and then my best friend told me she had been killed by a car,” Gibbemeyer said.

Falco was "a really well loved and well liked kid," said Betsy Laskaris, who knew her family.

Witnesses say the off-duty officer struck Di Falco when she was outside with friends doing a scavenger hunt Saturday night. She was found unconscious on Central Avenue in Westfield at about 8:30 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Union County prosecutor said Falco was hit by a service vehicle driven by an off-duty New Jersey state trooper.

Earlier Sunday, people who knew Di Falco came to the intersection of Central and Wyoming avenues in tears to leave flowers. At night, they left more flowers at her high school.

"This community is very, very good to its kids," Lara Gibbemeyer said.
