Winterfest and the Blue Cross River Rink at Penn's Landing opened Friday for its fourth season and will remain open until Mar. 5.
The "Frozen" characters joined skaters for the opening Friday Jodie Milkman, Vice President of Communications and Programming Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, informed NBC10. Milkman also said opening weekend will continue to be magical with Harry Potter characters joining skaters.
NBC10 will broadcast the tree lighting sponsored by PECO on Dec. 2.

She also added that there will be little fireworks after the tree lighting.
"Winterfest is so much more than just skating," Milkman explained. "You can come down and have hot chocolate or roasted chestnuts. You can sit by the fire pit. You can enjoy the magical winter forest that we've created down there. And, of course, as of Friday you can enjoy the splendor of this 45-foot tree."
Also in December, You can skate with Santa on Saturdays and Sundays Dec. 3 through Dec 18 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Winterfest will also host "12 Days of Christmas" movie nights from Dec. 14 through Dec. 25 at 7 p.m.
"Get out there and burn off that turkey and that extra helping of stuffing and pumpkin pie and come skate with your family," Milkman said.
"There is so much to do," Milkman added. A list of events at the River Rink throughout Winterfest can be found here.
A man's boisterous salute to President-elect Donald Trump on a flight bound for Pennsylvania this week appeared to create an uncomfortable moment for his fellow passengers, a video of the encounter shows.
"Donald Trump, baby," the unidentified man shouted, while clapping in the aisle of Delta Airlines flight 248. The flight was inbound to Allentown from Atlanta, Georgia, on Tuesday.
When his fervent display received a tepid response from most of the 101 other passengers, the man then asked loudly "we got some Hillary b--ches on here?"
"He's your president. Every goddamn one of you. If you don't like it, too bad," he went on to say of Trump before taking his seat.
Passengers seen in the video wore expressions of annoyance or confusion over the public display.
The video recorded by fellow passenger Emma Baum and uploaded to Facebook went viral on the social network. As of Friday evening, it had been watched 1.2 million times and shared to more than 14,500 timelines.
In a statement to NBC News, a Delta spokeswoman apologized for the "disruption."
"Our crews work hard to ensure flying is comfortable for all of our customers. We are currently investigating the incident," spokeswoman Ashley Black said.

A suspect who allegedly fired a gun at police during a foot chase along several blocks in Kensington was shot by as many as five officers, and a woman bystander was also struck in the gun fire as she stood a block away, police said.
The ordeal began Friday around 10:30 p.m. when two 24th district officers spotted a 33-year-old man on the 1800 block of E. Clementine Street. After the officers asked the man to stop, he reached toward his waistband area, police said. The officers say they then saw a bulge under his sweatshirt.
The officers contacted police radio and then chased after the man who ran to the 3000 block of Helen Street, according to investigators. As the man reached a dead-end, the officers noticed he was holding a gun in his hands, police said.
The man allegedly fired his gun at the officers who returned fire. The man then continued on Helen Street and ran several blocks to 2800 Amber Street where he was met by other responding officers, investigators said.
The man then allegedly turned with his gun raised toward the officers. The officers then opened fire, striking the man several times. He fell to the ground and was taken to Temple University Hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
A 36-year-old woman who was walking on the 2900 block of Amber Street during the shootout was also shot in the left calf.
"Unfortunately, she's hit by gunfire," police spokesman Lt. John Stanford said. "Just unfortunate that she was hit by gunfire because of this incident."
The woman was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where she was treated and released.
No officers were injured during the incident.

Believed to be armed with 29 guns, the unidentified man barricaded himself inside a house on River Road in Roxborough, and police show down the road.
Several residents along River Road have been told to "shelter in place." Residents in homes across the Schuylkill River in Gladwyne, Montgomery County were also told by police to remain inside.
Police on scene have told NBC10 that as many as 70 gunshots have been fired as of 9 a.m. in an incident that began shortly after 5 a.m. The man barricaded inside a house has not been identified, but police said they visited the house previously for a nuisance call.
Nearby public transit, including the Regional Rail line to Norristown, has also been shut down. The two-lane road runs between the train tracks and the Schuylkill River. The incident is near the city border with Montgomery County.
The nearest cross streets with the rural-looking road are Shawmont and Port Royal avenues.
Police boats patrolled the river as SWAT teams surrounded the house from the road. Homeland Security units arrived shortly before 9 a.m.
It remains unclear what prompted the standoff. A woman who knows the man also was seen getting in a police vehicle and driving toward the house.
