Three men suffered numerous gunshot wounds Wednesday night outside a house in the Juniata section of Philadelphia when a driver of a car pulled up and opened fire, police said.

The victims told police they were outside hanging Christmas lights on a house in the 4000 block of Howland Street. Shortly before 11 p.m., a driver slowly drove by them before stopping a short distance away. That's when the driver asked if any of the victims had struck his car at some point earlier, police said.

An argument ensued, according to the victims, and the driver pulled a gun. He opened fire on the victims before driving off.

A 28-year-old man suffered a bullet wound to his back, a 36-year-old man suffered a bullet wound to an arm and a 34-year-old man was struck twice in his midsection. All three were in stable condition at nearby hospitals, police said.

A large, inflatable snowman could be seen shortly after the shooting at the scene. A bright light display accompanied the outdoor Christmas ornament.

The gunman is described as a black man in his 20s, with a light complexion, who wore a light gray knitted cap. he was accompanied by another black man in his 20s, with a darker complexion and shoulder-length hair, possibly dreadlocks.

They were driving a dark gray Impala with tinted windows.

A two-year-old boy was in critical condition on Thanksgiving afternoon after a playmate accidentally shot him in the stomach, police said.

The child was only identified initially as an Hispanic male. He was found on the first floor of a row house in the 3500 block of North Ninth Street, police said.

Police initially described the boy's wound as "self-inflicted," but a supervisor on the scene later said another child, a four-year-old cousin, shot the boy. The two-year-old's mother and her boyfriend were home at the time of the shooting about 4:30 p.m., Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

"So this child, being just 2 years of age, being struck with first of all any bullet, but with a large caliber like a .40-caliber bullet at close range, is devastating," Small said.

A weapon was recovered at the house and no arrests were immediately made, police said.

The boy went to Temple University Hospital, transported by police, and initially listed in critical condition.

Numerous shell casings littered the ground in the pre-dawn hours of Black Friday.

Nearby lay a baseball cap and a Macy's bag. A bullet hole could be seen in a sport utility vehicle parked all alone in the parking lot of the Hamilton Mall in Atlantic County, New Jersey, the scene of overnight gunfire.

Two brothers were shot, authorities said about eight hours after the 1 a.m. shooting. Demond Cottman, a 21-year-old from Atlantic City, died from multiple gunshot wounds. Shadi Cottman, 26, of Clayton, New Jersey, was in stable condition at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to a leg.

Neither were identified initially by name.

Police did not release a motive in the shooting or how many others were involved. Officers arrived at the mall parking lot following a 9-1-1 call of a shooting.

More than 20 police evidence markers littered the parking lot of the closed mall, which did open as scheduled at 6 a.m. The shooting took place outside the Macy's store at the mall on Black Horse Pike.
