In a tragic start to Preakness day, two horses have died at Pimlico Race Course and a jockey broke a collarbone after a spill on a damp, rainy day.

Pramedya broke down around the turn in the fourth race Saturday, tumbled to the ground as jockey Daniel Centeno was thrown to the turf. Pimlico racing officials said the 4-year-old filly was euthanized on the track after breaking her left front cannon bone.

Centeno was driven off in ambulance. Officials said he broke his right collarbone.

In the opening race of the day, Homeboykris collapsed and died after winning and having his picture taken in the winner's circle. Track officials believe the 9-year-old gelding suffered cardiovascular collapse.

Later Saturday, Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist takes on 10 rivals in the Preakness Stakes.

A steady rain soaked Pimlico Race Course on Saturday morning, and the forecast for the rest of the way was anything but sunny on Preakness Day. The National Weather Service predicted a 100 percent of rain throughout the day, along with wind at gusts of up to 20 mph.

Iconic NJ Farmers Market Returns After Devastating Fire

Over a year after it was nearly destroyed by a devastating fire, an iconic South Jersey landmark had a grand reopening on Saturday.

The Columbus Farmers Market in Columbus, Burlington County is now fully rebuilt. A special event with live music and family activities was held Saturday to celebrate its reopening.

On November 18, 2014, the self-proclaimed “oldest and largest flea market” in the Philadelphia region went up in flames along Route 206 near Columbus Jobstown Road, sending thick smoke into the air. No one was injured during the four-alarm blaze and the market wasn’t open at the time.

It took fire crews nearly two hours to bring it under control. By the time the smoke cleared, the market’s Building 4, which housed retail stores and a food court, was completely destroyed.

“It was a living nightmare,” said Marci Strauss, owner of Wicker Emporium, one of 11 stores destroyed by the fire. “Not knowing how we were going to pay our bills or what was going to happen with insurance and just fighting to survive every day. We were out for ten months and it was hard. But our customers were very supportive and we’re so happy to be back.”

During an 18-month period, the Farmers Market was rebuilt and remodeled. It now has over 65 retail stores and thousands of outdoor flea market items.

Underground Fire Sparks Outages, Evacuations in Society Hill

Residents in Philadelphia's Society Hill neighborhood got an unpleasant wake-up call early Sunday when an underground blast and fire led to evacuations and power outages in the area.

Authorities said police, firefighters and PECO were called to 6th and Pine just after 1 a.m. after residents reported hearing what sounded like an explosion. When they arrived at the scene, they found a cable underground burning and three manhole covers lifted off their bases, officials said.

Firefighters evacuated people from six homes nearby as a precaution, and more than 120 homes were without power shortly before 6 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

Crews remained at the scene working to repair the problems Sunday morning. Late Sunday afternoon officials told NBC10 all but ten customers had their power restored. It's unclear exactly what caused the cable to burn, but a PECO spokeswoman said there were not any issues with transformers in the area.

The blast came on the heels of an underground explosion near Philadelphia's 30th Street Station on Saturday that damaged the road outside the transit center.
